Terry Fox Centre
The Terry Fox Centre is a proposed collection in Vancouver, BC. The Centre will be “a place for all things Terry”—telling the story of Terry Fox the person, the Marathon of Hope, and his dream of raising money for cancer research. The Centre will further the work of the Terry Fox Foundation, reflect the innovations in cancer research made through the Terry Fox Research Institute and inspire visitors to carry Terry’s dream forward.
The Centre will be a place where people will experience Terry’s values of courage, determination and humility. Visitors to the Centre will have a transformative experience – they will be entertained, informed and inspired.
Even if I don't finish, we need others to continue.
It's got to keep going.
The Terry Fox Centre (the “Centre”) is a not‐for‐profit corporation established with the objective of ensuring the legacy of Terry Fox lives on and is shared with future generations in Canada and around the world. The Centre is envisioned to house artifacts and memorabilia from Terry’s 1980 Marathon of Hope. It will function as a conduit to cancer education and research by connecting the public (young and old), donors (current and future), and researchers (Canadian and International).
Terry’s selfless commitment inspires us in our daily lives and galvanizes us in the fight against cancer.
Visitors from all over the world, but especially Canada, will emerge from the Centre with a deeper understanding of Terry Fox’s story. Terry’s determination and spirit inspired Canadians during the Marathon of Hope and his memory continues to inspire people around the world to fulfill his dream of finding a cure for cancer. Visitors’ will express this through:
• Increased personal connection to Terry Fox
• Increased understanding of cancer and cancer treatment, as well as a positive outlook for the future of cancer treatment
• Increased personal actions in support and appreciation of cancer research
• And increased personal courage in their daily lives.
